Note from Stan presented to WHS Class of '67 ad-hoc reunion committee:

The American Institute of Architects has a program that is currently going on called ABC (Architecture by Children) http://www.aiacincinnati.org/community/abc.cfm

This year Woodward asked our local AIA chapter if they could participate in the ABC Program. When the call went out to the Architects for someone to head the program at Woodward, I volunteered. Originally I spoke to about 24 interested students.(11th and 12th graders). This reduced down to about 7 once they saw the large amount of work required to be in the program and the complexity. This group is now down to 5 students. They are dedicated to this project and will be presenting their final project at the end of February at a gala event at the Museum Center. A number of dignitaries will be there including the Mayor.

I teach them 2X a week and the experience for me has been truly a pleasure to perform. These kids are bright, involved, and energetic to prove to the community that a school like Woodward (which is now a technical school mostly for underprivileged kids) can still go head to head with the likes of Walnut Hills, which is still much more academically inclined.

I think this would be a great way to utilize some of our money that we generated at the reunion. I would be more than happy to create some kind of award/recognition to the 5 students for participating in this program on behalf of the Woodward class of 67.
I was thinking along the lines of about $50-100.00 per student. This would be an enormous incentive to have future students participate in future years. It also means that potentially we would do this next year.

Thanks, Stan
